Kai just had his 3rd surgery (of an expected 4) for his cleft lip and palate. His first two were done in China at Lanfang Children's Village through the generosity of the Philip Hayden Foundation (http://www.chinaorphans.org/). This was another sugery to fix his palate. He also got ear tubes as he has an extensive history of ear infections. He was a real trooper and handled the whole experience very well. Mike stayed with Kai last night in the hospital. What would we do without Daddy? He is just the best. Kai is very happy with his ear tubes and says his ears "feel like a thumbs up"(his own words:). He is hearing so much better today too. His palate is still pretty soar but he's already talking and says that now we'll be able to understand him better. I hope he's right! I bet he is. He had a tough time yesterday after the surgery but today all he needed was a visit from the gang to feel back to his old self (and some good pain meds:). He was released and came home this afternoon. Boy is he glad to be home! This kid is such a trooper and we are so glad to have him home again. Boy did it seem quiet around here with him gone! Dare I say that I missed the noise level!?!? Believe it or not, I did.
